Divorce

in Connecticut

Divorce is the legal termination of a valid marriage by court order. Connecticut is a "no fault" divorce state, which means that either party may petition for divorce without having to plead that someone is at fault.

General issues to be resolved in divorce involve asset distribution, alimony, life insurance, medical insurance, disposition of personal property and the division of debts. If the parties have children, issues of child custody and parenting access, child support, educational support orders, medical insurance, life insurance and the allocations of dependency exemptions must also be resolved.

Most divorces are resolved by way of traditional litigation, mediation or collaborative divorce. Contact us to determine which path is right for you.
